IMPRESSIONISM MEETS CONTEMPORARY
Impressionism Meets Contemporary brings together the artistic worlds of Pia Reynolds and Vasily Kulchenko in an exhibition that bridges tradition and modern expression. Side by side, their works create a dialogue between the timeless beauty of impressionism and the spirit of contemporary art. The result is a celebration of colour, movement, and texture.
Pia Reynolds is a still life and landscape painter based in Perth, Australia. Working primarily with acrylic paints on wooden surfaces, Pia is known for her vibrant depictions of everyday subjects. The use of bright colours brings a sense of life and energy to each piece, while her exploration of challenging textures, such as glass, fabrics and stainless steel, adds depth and complexity to the compositions. She also enjoys capturing scenes which highlight the beauty of Australia.
As a mother of three, life is considerably busy. In light of having one child with complex needs, it has reinforced the importance of maintaining a sense of self identity through passions and interests, whilst continuing to love and care for others. For Pia, art is highly therapeutic and provides a sense of calm and quietness. She hopes to evoke joy in those who view and own her pieces.

Vasily Kulchenko is a self-taught artist based in Perth, Western Australia. His work is rooted in Impressionism, with a strong focus on landscapes, though he also enjoys experimenting with abstract forms.
Vasily has been painting since childhood, and over the years, his style has evolved into a blend of classic Impressionist techniques with a touch of modern vibrancy. He primarily works with oil on canvas and wood panels, using varied underpainting methods and thick, textured strokes to capture the shifting moods of nature.
Currently, Vasily is inspired by the stunning landscapes of Western Australia — from bright, open beaches to the deep blues of the Indian Ocean.” My aim is to express not only what I see, but what I feel — translating light, movement, and emotion into colour. Thank you for joining me on this journey. “
